On 8 September 2021 the first women’s legal advice centre of Amsterdam will officially open its doors. From 9 September onwards, women from Amsterdam can come in for free legal advice!
This initiative is the result of a collaboration between Bureau Clara Wichmann, the Amsterdam Law Hub (University of Amsterdam) and the City of Amsterdam. Research has shown that women are more often financially dependent, earn lower wages than men, have more care responsibilities and are more often confronted with sexual violence or (street) harassment. There is still a lot of inequality between women and men, while every person needs equal opportunities to achieve equal rights. Language and educational barriers, for example, can play a role in the search for legal solutions where they exist.
